Sandy Springs Youth Sports

Mission Statement

The mission of Sandy Springs Youth Sports (SSYS) is to provide a safe, fun, and competitive environment where children can grow through athletics. We focus on teaching the fundamentals of baseball, softball, flag football, and cheer while building life skills like teamwork, responsibility, and confidence. Our volunteer-driven program emphasizes community, family involvement, and creating positive experiences that help kids fall in love with sports and develop as well-rounded individuals.

Our Core Philosophy

At SSYS, our park and programs are built on four foundational pillars:

  1. Child-Centered Development
Every decision begins with what is best for the kids. We focus on age-appropriate skill development, positive reinforcement, and creating an environment where athletes can learn, grow, and have fun regardless of their experience or ability level.

  2. Volunteer Empowerment and Accountability
Our coaches, team parents, and board members are the backbone of the program. We believe in providing proper screening, clear expectations, and ongoing education to ensure all volunteers represent the values of SSYS. We encourage mentorship, collaboration, and a shared sense of pride in shaping the youth of our community.

  3. Safe and Inclusive Environment
Safety is non-negotiable. From well-maintained fields to background-checked coaches, our priority is providing a space where players and families feel welcome and supported. We emphasize sportsmanship, respect for others, and creating a culture that celebrates diversity, effort, and teamwork.

  4. Community and Culture
SSYS is more than a sports league—it’s a community hub. We aim to foster connections between families, schools, and local businesses through events, sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities. Whether it’s a game day, a clinic, or a Friday Night Under the Lights event, our park is a place where people come together to celebrate youth athletics and community spirit.

Our Coaching Philosophy

Our coaches serve as teachers and role models. We expect them to:

  • Prioritize player development and enjoyment over winning.

  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and respect.

  • Provide clear communication with families and league staff.

  • Commit to ongoing learning and adherence to park and city guidelines.

  • Remember that every player deserves equal attention, opportunity, and encouragement.

Our Commitment to Excellence

We take pride in the growth and improvement of our park, fields, and programs. Whether it’s expanding facilities, enhancing training opportunities, or improving communication and technology, SSYS strives to be a leader in youth sports administration and community engagement.

Our Guiding Motto

“Building character and community through youth sports.”

“Compete!”

The word "compete" originates from the Latin word "competere," which means "to strive together"
