Sandy Springs Youth Sports

Welcome to Softball

Our Spring season is for players of every skill level and introduces various levels of competition while providing amazing experiences for players of all abilities.

Our Fall Season is a developmental season which is all about learning and having fun. Girls play in the league in which they will be  in the spring of the next year (aging up occurs in the fall). The season is designed to focus on skill development with early season clinics, practices on Wednesdays and games on Sundays from late August through late October. It is the perfect season to work on new skills or to find out of softball is the sport for you! This season is great for players of all abilities to improve their skills.

AGE GROUPS
The Rookie League for our 6u players is an instructional 4-6 year old league that introduces proper techniques for fielding, throwing, catching and hitting a softball, all while having a lot of fun. The Rookie League is coach pitch with a tee if needed.

The Minor League for our 8u players is an instructional 7-8 year old league that follows ASA rules with local modification for recreational play. The Minor League introduces and reinforces softball fundamentals of fielding, throwing, catching, hitting and base running. The Minor League is coach pitch.

The Major League for our 10u players provides an instructional and competitive 9-10 year old league that follows ASA rules with local modification for recreational play.  The Major League introduces and reinforces more advanced rules such as pitching, stealing and defensive control of the ball. The Major League is girl pitch with coach rescue.

The Junior League for our 12u players provides an instructional and 11-12 year old inter-park league that follows ASA rules.  In addition to ASA Softball Rules, the local league rules will govern play for all games conducted between Murphey Candler Park and Sandy Springs Youth Sports (Morgan Falls Park).

Select Tryouts Evaluation Dates

Please complete this survey by Wednesday, Feb 7, so we can learn your players’ interest and availability in our Select Program (click here for 8u/10u survey – click here for 12u survey).

12U - February 9 - 6:00 - F3
10U - February 10 - 1:30 - F3
8U - February 10 - 11:00 - F3

Our select program is a competitive opportunity for our highest-level players within 8u, 10u and 12u. Players are encouraged to participate in the select evaluations, but it is not required. The select evaluations are an additional data point, so we can make the best decisions for our select teams. Players are chosen for our select program based on their evaluations and demonstrated ability. It should be noted that not every player interested in select softball will be assigned to a team, and being invited to a Spring select team does not guarantee a spot on a Summer select team. There are additional fees for this specialized program.
